Leader of the County Council, David Parsons, said: “I’m delighted that the Government has taken on board the views expressed by the County Council – views which had been very much endorsed by local residents. Our detailed work showed that an eco-town was simply not needed at Pennbury.

"I’d also like to pay tribute to the hard work of campaign group CASCET who did much to help to co-ordinate and articulate local concerns.

“We can now focus our efforts on working with other councils and agencies to support the building of high quality new homes, especially affordable homes, in sustainable locations agreed through the established planning procedures." « Less
